FAQ

FAQ

Click a question to view the answer.

1 What is the weather like in Korea during the event period?

Early July in Korea is typically hot and humid, with daytime temperatures ranging from approximately 28°C to 35°C (82°F–95°F). This period may also coincide with the monsoon season, so occasional heavy rain showers are possible. Participants are advised to wear lightweight clothing, stay hydrated, and bring sun protection and rain gear such as umbrellas or raincoats.

2 Do participants need health or travel insurance?

Yes. All participants are strongly advised to obtain international travel and health insurance prior to arrival. Insurance should cover medical treatment, hospitalization, accidents, and unexpected travel changes. The event organizer is not responsible for personal medical or travel expenses incurred during the event.

3 What items should teams prepare for the trip?

Teams are encouraged to bring team uniforms or national attire for ceremonies, robots and spare parts, field setup tools, laptops and chargers, power adapters, personal medications, lightweight summer clothing, and rain gear. Cultural exchange items such as team pins or small gifts are also recommended. Please ensure all equipment complies with airline and customs regulations.

4 Are there any health and safety considerations we should be aware of?

Due to high summer temperatures, participants should take precautions against heat exhaustion by drinking plenty of water and resting in air-conditioned areas. Indoor venues are fully air-conditioned. Medical support will be available on-site throughout the event.

5 What should we know about food in Korea?

Korean cuisine often includes spicy dishes and fermented foods such as kimchi. Vegetarian, halal, or allergy-sensitive meal options may be limited depending on catering arrangements. Teams with dietary restrictions should inform the organizers in advance.

6 What currency is used, and how should we prepare payments?

The official currency of Korea is the Korean Won (KRW). Credit and debit cards are widely accepted in hotels, restaurants, and retail stores. However, small vendors and local markets may prefer cash. Currency exchange services are available at airports, banks, and hotels.

7 What type of electrical outlets are used in Korea?

Korea uses 220V electricity with Type C and Type F plugs. Participants traveling from countries with different voltage systems or plug types should bring appropriate power converters and plug adapters for their electronic devices.

8 Is English widely spoken in Korea?

English is commonly used in airports, hotels, and major tourist areas. However, English proficiency may vary in local areas, so translation apps can be helpful when traveling outside the venue.
